Aluminum Manufacturing Parts Types

Aluminum Manufacturing Parts Types. Aluminum die casting is a process of producing engineered metal parts by forcing molten alloy under high pressure into reusable steel mold. It is one of the highest mass-produced items manufactured by the metalworking industry. Aluminum die cast parts are important components of consumer, commercial and industrial products.

There are four major aluminum parts types for die casting. These are as follows:

  • Single Cavity
This is a one-dimensional die used to produce a single component. This is frequently chosen medium to large or sophisticated shaped products.
  • Multiple Cavity
This type is used to produce a number of identical parts. It is a tool that can be an efficient arrangement for production condition. One of the advantages of this aluminum parts type is if one of the cavities is damaged, the complete tool is not out of production. Since the remaining use able cavities can be modified to provide an acceptable product.
  • Unit Die
This aluminum parts type is used to produce different parts one at a time. This almost function like a single cavity die.
  • Combination Die
This is used to produce several different parts of the assembly.

The choice among the four major aluminum parts types will greatly depend on the size, complexity, dimensional tolerance and surface quality of the desired product. Aluminum die casting parts are necessary in the manufacturing industry. The parts to use are specifically dictated by the industry. The automobile parts industry will tend to use single cavity and combination die, while the toy industry may use multiple cavity.
