Types of Aluminum Lighting Fixtures. Aluminum lighting fixtures are used for garage parking lighting, traffic light housings, lighting fixtures in medical establishments, wall sconce lighting fixtures, outdoor coach lights, high-temperature light housings, bullet light fixtures, and many more.

The different types of aluminum lighting fixtures include recessed lighting fixtures, wherein the protective housing is hidden behind a wall or ceiling, leaving only the light exposed. The type concealed behind a ceiling is usually referred to as a “downlight”. Another aluminum lighting fixture type is the “downlight cans”, a slang term for a variety of inexpensive lamps dug into the ceiling. The term comes of the shape of the housing of the lighting fixture. Others are the portable or free-standing lighting fixtures used for office task lights and table lighting, pathway lighting fixtures usually mounted on the ground at a low level for illuminating pathways, “troffers”, which comes from trough and coffer, which are basically recessed fluorescent lights, cove lights, indirect lighting wherein light is reflected off the ceiling for general illumination, sconce lighting fixtures, which provide up and down lighting, and can be used to illuminate paintings, architectural designs and other artworks, commonly mounted in hallways and corridors, and/or used as a substitute for overhead lighting, track light fixtures which are small track lights positioned along a track used to illuminate the path covered by that track, under-cabinet lighting fixtures which are mounted below wall cabinets in the kitchen, and surface-mounted lights, wherein the finished housing of the lighting fixture is exposed.
